Create a form that displays the beauty of gold coloured PLA filament.

My first introduction to additive manufacturing was through a material innovation class at OCADU. The instructor Howard Munroe led us through the fundamentals of Rhino3D.

Two years later though the collaborative nature of a shared work space, I was reintroduced to 3D printing thanks to Raymond Fong. Together we developed these vases for the University's Industrial Design Grad Show fundraiser.

The form is directly inspired by a computer’s heat sink. The fins are intended for displacing heat away from the machine. Here the fins transition from shadow to shimmer as light moves across the from.
